Ease Heel Pain
Footwear That Takes the Load Off
That stab in the heel on the first steps out of bed has a name, and the right pair genuinely helps. Fitting shoes for plantar fasciitis in Clermont, FL means real structure under the arch, cushioning where your heel lands, and a toe box that does not squeeze. We measure both feet, read the wear on the shoes you arrived in, and watch you walk before pulling a single box off the wall.
Footwear is only part of it. A supportive insole can add arch support the stock footbed never had, and keeping a cushioned sandal by the bed takes the sting out of those first steps in the morning, which are usually the worst ones. Bunions, fallen arches, and wide feet get the same unhurried treatment. We fit shoes, we do not diagnose, so if the pain is severe or has not eased in weeks, see a podiatrist and bring their guidance with you. Call (352) 394-7434.

Plantar Fasciitis FAQs
Common questions about heel pain and footwear: which shoe features actually help, whether insoles are worth it, how soon relief comes, and when to stop shopping and call a doctor.
Three things tend to matter most: real support under the arch so the fascia is not stretched to its limit with every step, enough cushioning at the heel to blunt the impact, and a midsole firm enough that it does not collapse sideways when you load it. A little heel-to-toe drop often helps too, because it takes some tension off the band running along the bottom of your foot.
What rarely helps is a soft, flat, unstructured shoe, however comfortable it feels in the first ten seconds. Beyond that it depends on your foot, which is why we measure both, watch you walk, and put you in two or three genuinely different options rather than handing over whatever is marketed for heel pain.
Start with the shoe. A well-chosen pair solves it for a lot of people, and adding an insole to a shoe that was wrong in the first place mostly just changes how it is wrong. Once the shoe is right, an over-the-counter insole can add arch support and heel cushioning that the stock footbed does not.
We carry supportive insoles and can fit them into your shoes during the same visit so you can walk in both versions and feel the difference yourself. If you already wear a prescription orthotic from a podiatrist, bring it and we will fit around it. We do not make custom prescription orthotics here.
Some people notice a difference the same afternoon. More often it is gradual, over a week or two, as the tissue stops being aggravated every day. Plantar fasciitis built up over months, and footwear changes the load rather than flipping a switch.
Two habits speed it along. Wear the supportive pair for the whole day rather than only when you exercise, since barefoot on tile and flat sandals around the house undo a lot of the good. And keep a supportive shoe or sandal by the bed for those first morning steps, which are usually the worst ones. We stock recovery and supportive sandals for exactly that.
Go and get it looked at if the pain is severe, if it followed a specific injury, if there is swelling, numbness, or tingling, or if weeks in properly fitted shoes have changed nothing. We fit shoes, we do not diagnose, and we would rather point you to a doctor than sell you a pair that was never going to be the answer.
The relationship runs both ways: area podiatrists and orthopedic physicians regularly send their patients here for the footwear side once they have handled the medical side. Come in with their guidance and we will work with it. Call (352) 394-7434 in Clermont or (407) 270-3000 in Winter Garden.
