How You Walk
Your Stride Decides the Shoe
No two people load their feet the same way, which is why a gait analysis in Clermont, FL comes before any recommendation here. We check your arch, read the wear on the shoes you walked in with, and watch you move across the floor and on the treadmill to see whether you roll in, roll out, or land neutral.
What we find changes the shoe. A foot that rolls in heavily is usually happier in something with structure along the arch side, while a neutral stride does better in a cushioned shoe that stays out of the way. The same reading matters whether you are training for a race, walking the South Lake Trail most mornings, or standing behind a counter for a twelve-hour shift. It is complimentary with every fitting and adds no time to your visit. Call (352) 394-7434.

Gait Analysis FAQs
The questions customers ask about pronation, wear patterns, and treadmill testing before their first gait analysis at either the Clermont or Winter Garden store.
Pronation is the natural inward roll of your foot as it takes your weight. Some roll further than others. Roll in heavily and the term is overpronation; stay on the outside edge and it is supination; land somewhere in between and you are neutral.
None of these is a defect, and none of them needs correcting for its own sake. What they change is which shoe feels right underfoot after mile three or hour six. A heavy overpronator often does better in a stability shoe that supports the arch side, while a neutral walker or runner is usually happiest in a cushioned shoe that stays out of the way. Guessing wrong is what makes shoes feel fine in the store and awful by the end of the day.
No. Walking is enough, and for most of our customers walking is the point. Plenty of the people we fit never run a step: they walk for exercise, stand behind a counter all day, or just want to get through errands without their feet aching. We watch them walk the length of the store and learn what we need.
The treadmill is there for anyone who wants it, and it is genuinely useful if you are training, because how you move at pace is not always how you move at a stroll. Nothing about it is a test. You go at whatever speed feels normal, for as long or short as you like, in your own clothes.
A tape measure captures your foot standing still. Your old soles record hundreds of miles of it actually moving, which is why we ask you to bring the shoes you wear now. Wear that runs down the inner forefoot points one way, wear on the outer heel points another, and lopsided wear between the left and right shoe often explains a pain you have not mentioned yet.
We also look at the upper. A bulge over the little toe means the shoe is too narrow, a collapsed heel counter means it is too big, and a crease in the wrong place means the flex point does not line up with your foot. Any pair helps, even an old beat-up one, so bring them along.
It is not. We fit shoes, we do not diagnose. A gait analysis here tells us which footwear suits how you move; it is not a clinical evaluation and it does not replace one. If you are dealing with persistent pain, numbness, or an injury that is not improving, see a podiatrist or your physician.
That said, the two work well together. Area podiatrists and orthopedic physicians regularly send patients to us, and if you arrive with a prescription insole or specific instructions from your doctor, bring them and we will fit the shoe around them. Call (352) 394-7434 for Clermont or (407) 270-3000 for Winter Garden.
